Active aid to navigation. The lighthouse is not open to the public.
Accessibility: The lighthouse is on the grounds of a power plant and cannot be visited, but it can be seen distantly from some points on shore. You can get a view from across the harbor, about a half-mile distant, from the Pleasure Beach Pier in Bridgeport, at the end of Central Ave., just south of the intersection with Seaview Ave. A close view is possible from the Bridgeport to Port Jefferson ferry.
